Flag Day Parade and Festival Returns to Downtown Baton Rouge This Sunday

Baton Rouge will celebrate Flag Day in a big way this Sunday with a parade, live music, family activities, and a tribute to veterans and military service members.

State Senator Regina Barrow said the annual Flag Day celebration has been a local tradition for nearly 20 years. The event honors the American flag and recognizes the sacrifices of those who have served the country.

This year’s celebration carries extra significance as the nation prepares to mark its 250th anniversary.

The Flag Day Parade begins at 4 p.m. at North Sixth Street and North Boulevard. The route travels along North Boulevard toward the Mississippi River. Organizers encourage families to line the streets and then follow the parade to the festival grounds.

Family Fun at the Festival

The festival starts at 5 p.m. at Roar Plaza behind the Old Louisiana State Capitol.

Organizers have planned activities for all ages. Children can enjoy bounce houses, obstacle courses, a Ferris wheel, trackless trains, face painting, popcorn, snowballs, and more.

Visitors will also find food vendors, community organizations, and information booths throughout the festival area.

Live Music and Special Guests

Entertainment will include performances from David St. Romain, local artists, DJ Incredible, and Fat Hat, which will close out the evening.

The parade’s grand marshal is Charles McMakin. Organizers also expect appearances from state and military leaders, including Louisiana’s lieutenant governor and military officials.

Car enthusiasts can also enjoy a display from the Baton Rouge Corvette Club and other classic vehicle groups.

With free activities, live entertainment, and a patriotic atmosphere, organizers hope the Flag Day Parade and Festival will bring the community together for an afternoon of family fun and appreciation for America’s veterans.
