During an interview on Talk 107.3, Barrow reflected on the 2026 Louisiana Legislative Session. Lawmakers filed more than 2,500 bills during the 85-day session. Nearly 900 bills advanced to the governor for consideration.
Barrow described the session as busy and productive. She said the pace increased after court decisions involving Louisiana’s congressional districts drew statewide attention.
New Development Planned for North Baton Rouge
One of Barrow’s key accomplishments involved the Boulevard at Harding Special District. The district aims to encourage new investment in North Baton Rouge.
The project will start with a grocery store near Harding Boulevard and Interstate 110. Residents in the area have gone decades without a nearby full-service grocery option.
Barrow believes the grocery store can attract more businesses. Plans include restaurants, medical offices, retail stores, and other services. Many residents currently travel across Baton Rouge to access those amenities.
Developers have already received interest from businesses that want to join the project. Barrow said companies see potential because of the area’s location near major roads, the interstate, and the airport.
New Tool for Domestic Violence Victims
Barrow also highlighted legislation that supports victims of domestic violence.
The new law creates an online portal for protective order applications. Victims can complete the process online instead of traveling to a courthouse. Barrow said the change offers greater privacy and safety during a difficult time.
As the session concludes, Barrow says she will continue focusing on economic growth and public safety. She believes both efforts can improve quality of life for families across Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
