Louisiana Election 2026: Nancy Landry Discusses Voter Integrity and Key Election Dates

Voter Roll Maintenance and Election Integrity

Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry joined Mornings With Brian Haldane to discuss election integrity, voter registration and preparations for the November 2026 election.

Landry said her office has expanded efforts to review Louisiana’s voter rolls. She highlighted the use of the SAVE database to identify potential noncitizens listed as registered voters. According to Landry, the process identified 403 people. Her office gave those individuals an opportunity to challenge the findings before canceling registrations that remained in question.

Landry also discussed investigations into alleged illegal voting and fraudulent registration. She said her office refers potential violations to law enforcement and prosecutors while investigations continue.

Louisiana’s November Election

The November 3 election will include congressional and local races, constitutional amendments and other ballot measures.

Early voting will take place from October 20 through October 27, giving voters an opportunity to cast ballots before Election Day.

Landry encouraged voters to review their registration information and prepare ahead of time. The deadline to register in person or by mail is October 5, while online registration remains available through October 13.

She also encouraged voters to review their sample ballots before heading to the polls. The GeauxVote system allows voters to view ballot information, review their sample ballot and find polling locations.

Louisiana Plans for a New Voting System

Landry also provided an update on Louisiana’s voting equipment. She said her office continues working through the procurement process for a new, fully auditable voting system.

The state currently uses voting equipment that Landry described as decades old. She said the goal is to have a contract in place by the end of 2026 and eventually conduct risk-limiting audits after elections.

With thousands of races and multiple issues appearing on the November ballot, Landry urged Louisiana voters to prepare early and understand what they will encounter when they head to the polls.
