Join the Celebration for a Cause
Mark your calendar for the 32nd CASA Fiesta on August 13th, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The event will be hosted at Red Stick Social on Government Street. For a $65 ticket, attendees can enjoy a fajita bar provided by Superior Grill, complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks, alongside live music and a wine pull. You can also bid in a silent auction featuring premium items, including a Green Egg grill and a $200 Ruffino’s gift card. All proceeds support CASA’s operations, backed by title sponsor Louisiana Healthcare Connections.
Become a Child’s Advocate
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) trains volunteers to represent foster children during judicial proceedings. You do not need a background in law or social work to participate. Volunteers must simply have a heart for serving children, be at least 21 years old, and complete a background check, fingerprinting, and 32 hours of training.
Making an Impact in Louisiana
Currently, Louisiana has roughly 4,000 children in foster care, with about 400 residing in East Baton Rouge. Last year alone, local CASA volunteers supported 311 children. The organization relies heavily on 175 to 185 active volunteers who dedicate time to getting to know their assigned youth and reporting back to the court. As the East Baton Rouge chapter nears its 35th anniversary, they are approaching a milestone of serving nearly 4,000 youth.
