As Independence Day celebrations begin, Capital Region Crime Stoppers is reminding residents to stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and help law enforcement solve several ongoing investigations across the Baton Rouge area.
Crime Stoppers Director Don Coppola joined Talk 107.3 to discuss holiday safety, recent crime investigations, and several cases that need the public’s attention.
Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July
Coppola encouraged everyone attending Fourth of July festivities to plan ahead. He reminded residents that fireworks remain illegal in East Baton Rouge Parish and urged people not to celebrate by firing guns into the air.
He also stressed the importance of using a designated driver or ride-share service if alcohol is involved. With Uber and Lyft readily available, there is no reason to drive impaired during the holiday weekend.
Staying hydrated and making safe choices can help ensure everyone enjoys the celebration without unnecessary emergencies.
Missing Woman Still Needs Answers
Crime Stoppers continues to seek information about Madison Allen, who has been missing since November 2023.
Allen, 32, disappeared from Zachary, and investigators hope someone recognizes her or her distinctive tattoos. Coppola said every missing person case deserves answers and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Public Asked to Identify Burglary Suspect
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is also asking for help identifying a burglary suspect connected to an incident on June 19 along Seigen Lane.
Investigators released surveillance images showing a suspect with a visible tattoo on his left arm. Crime Stoppers believes someone in the community may recognize the individual.
Surveillance Cameras Continue to Aid Investigations
Coppola noted that modern surveillance cameras play a major role in solving crimes. Whether thefts occur at businesses, check-cashing locations, or retail stores, investigators often have clear video evidence to identify suspects.
Crime Stoppers encourages anyone with information about these or other cases to submit anonymous tips through the Crime Stoppers hotline, website, or P3 Tips app. Even a small detail could help investigators solve a case and improve public safety.
