Fall Tourism Keeps New Orleans Thriving
New Orleans is experiencing a remarkably strong fall season, driven by a bustling calendar of conventions, Halloween festivities, and major tourism milestones. Walt Leger III, President and CEO of New Orleans & Company, recently joined the show to discuss how the city continues to attract visitors from across the globe.
From historic neighborhood ghost tours to packed French Quarter venues, the autumn months have brought nearly 90% hotel occupancy without relying on a single isolated mega-event. Instead, a steady stream of diverse happenings—including the upcoming Fit Fest at City Park and massive gatherings like the National Association of Realtors (NAR NXT) convention—solidifies the city’s status as a premier global destination.
International partnerships are also expanding. Recent high-level meetings with UNESCO, la Francophonie, and British Airways focus on strengthening direct global connectivity, such as the vital London-to-New Orleans flight route. At the same time, regional economic staples like the Allstate Sugar Bowl continue to drive unprecedented local business engagement.
