Washington Parish Infrastructure and Economy Take Center Stage Ahead of Free Fair

Louisiana State Representative John Wyble recently shared key updates on infrastructure, workforce training, and regional economic development across Washington Parish.

Infrastructure Milestones: Highway 3241

The state approaches the final phase of Highway 3241, a major four-lane project connecting Washington Parish directly to Interstate 12 at Lacombe. Established decades ago under the vision of legendary legislator B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn, this project shortens commute times to Baton Rouge and opens vital economic corridors for rural communities. State leaders will let the final construction phase next month, with ground breaking expected in spring.

Workforce and Rural Growth

Louisiana continues prioritizing targeted investments to address local needs. Legislative measures aim to create 55,000 to 60,000 new high-paying jobs over the next three years. Strategic focus remains on rural economic development, helping small municipalities build industrial capacity without heavy overhead costs. Recent developments include a 75-acre expansion at the Franklinton Industrial Park through the FAST Sites program, supporting businesses tied to major technology and aerospace ventures.

Celebrating Community at the Washington Parish Free Fair

Beyond legislative updates, Franklinton hosts the 115th Washington Parish Free Fair this weekend. Recognized as the state’s top fair, the event features midways, historical exhibits at the Mile Branch Settlement, professional rodeos, and livestock shows. National recording artist LeAnn Rimes headlines the main stage on Saturday evening, offering free concert admission to all attendees.
