Consequently, Mayor Yates emphasized that this collective feedback ensures the strategy reflects genuine local priorities.

Infrastructure and Housing Focus

The plan addresses several critical areas essential to managing long-term expansion:

  • Core Priorities: Flood drainage improvements, road infrastructure, and public safety remain the primary focus areas.

  • Economic Hubs: Leaders identified the Airline Highway corridor as a primary center for business expansion.

  • Housing Capacity: Studies show 8,000 approved, unbuilt home sites across St. George, representing over 20,000 potential residents. Therefore, city leaders aim to keep starter homes affordable for young professionals.

  • Civic Amenities: Plans feature a multi-use sports facility and civic center to spur commercial development.

Following public feedback sessions, staff will submit the final draft to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Additionally, city teams have already initiated work on 11 of the 16 priority projects.
