Patrick Robinson Highlights Louisiana Energy Policy and Economic Growth

LABI Policy Forum Brings Louisiana Leaders Together

Patrick Robinson of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) joined Brian Haldane on Mornings with Brian Haldane to discuss the recent LABI Policy Forum and the major issues shaping Louisiana’s future.

Robinson described the forum as a major gathering of policymakers and business leaders. The event featured discussions on insurance reform, workforce development and energy. Robinson focused on the energy panel, which brought together state officials, lawmakers and industry representatives.

Energy Remains Critical to Louisiana’s Economy

Robinson emphasized the importance of energy to Louisiana, noting that the industry supports a significant share of the state’s economy, billions of dollars in payroll and revenue, and tens of thousands of jobs.

The conversation also examined Representative Brett Geymann’s HB 804, which Robinson said seeks to provide greater legal certainty for businesses while maintaining environmental and regulatory standards. He praised the effort to balance economic growth with responsible environmental stewardship.

Panelists also discussed major economic development projects and their impact on Louisiana communities. Robinson pointed to new construction jobs, local contractors and increased tax revenue as examples of economic benefits already reaching residents.

Protecting Consumers and Looking Toward the Future

The panel addressed concerns about the cost of expanding Louisiana’s power grid. Robinson said state leaders have studied other states and worked to ensure large industrial projects, rather than individual consumers, carry the costs associated with necessary infrastructure expansion.

Robinson also stressed the importance of using data to address misconceptions surrounding Louisiana’s industrial development. He said factual information can help policymakers and residents better understand the economic and health impacts of industry.

LABI Prepares for Workers’ Compensation Conference

Robinson closed by previewing LABI’s upcoming workers’ compensation conference in Baton Rouge. The event will bring together industry professionals and experts from across Louisiana and the country to discuss current challenges and opportunities.
