Louisiana’s Teacher Leader Summit brought together nearly 8,000 educators to focus on student success, teacher support, and school improvement. State Superintendent Cade Brumley praised teachers for driving Louisiana’s education progress. He also highlighted leadership lessons shared by LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey.
Meanwhile, Louisiana leaders pointed to national rankings showing the state leading the country in growth. The state also ranked first in reading growth and second in math growth. However, leaders said attendance remains a major challenge for schools.
In addition, the summit focused on literacy, foundational math, workforce readiness, and artificial intelligence in education. Leaders said AI can support learning when used safely. At the same time, schools continue balancing technology with efforts to reduce screen time.
Looking ahead, Louisiana leaders plan to keep building on current strategies. Those efforts include improving attendance, strengthening academics, and supporting teachers as schools prepare for another year of growth.
