The race for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District is starting to take shape as candidates step forward and address key issues across the region.
Republican candidate Monique Appeaning is campaigning on rising costs, public safety, and economic growth. She said conversations with voters across all 10 parishes reveal a clear pattern. People are struggling with higher prices on gas, groceries, and utilities.
Appeaning said her campaign centers on a plan she calls a “Safe Path Forward.” The platform focuses on supporting law enforcement, reducing crime, and strengthening the military. She also supports tax relief measures, including eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security income.
She pointed to economic development as another priority. Appeaning said the country needs to bring manufacturing jobs back and support small businesses. She also stressed the need to protect farmers and strengthen American agriculture.
The district spans a large and diverse area, stretching from Baton Rouge to northern Louisiana. That reach creates different local concerns, but Appeaning said many issues overlap.
One issue continues to come up across the district. Appeaning said voters are raising concerns about carbon capture and how it affects property rights. She called it one of the most consistent topics she hears on the campaign trail.
Appeaning also emphasized accountability. She said she plans to stay visible in all parishes and maintain direct contact with constituents.
The 6th District race is expected to stay competitive. As more candidates enter, the focus will likely remain on cost of living, public safety, and property concerns.
