Louisiana Superintendent Highlights Storm Recovery and Civics Push

Louisiana Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley says schools are making strong progress after the recent winter storm. More than 500,000 students missed class at one point, but districts reopened quickly. About 13,000 students remain out today. Brumley stresses that students learn best in the classroom, especially when families lose power and can’t access remote tools. He also highlighted Louisiana’s push to strengthen civics. Secretary McMahon visited again to recognize the state’s history standards and new civics requirements. With the legislative session coming and the Teacher Leader Summit approaching, Brumley says Louisiana aims to keep improving student outcomes.
