Washington Mardi Gras 2026: Brian Haldane Previews Louisiana’s Power Week in D.C.

Heading to Washington

Program Director Cade Voisin opened Mornings with Brian Haldane with a twist. He interviewed Brian before he headed out of Baton Rouge Metro Airport for Washington Mardi Gras. Brian will broadcast live from D.C. on Thursday and Friday, with special afternoon shows from 4 to 6 p.m. He said the goal is simple. He wants to bring Louisiana’s biggest political and business conversations back home.

What Makes Washington Mardi Gras Different

Brian explained that Washington Mardi Gras looks nothing like what we see in Louisiana. There is no neutral ground. There is no sidewalk side. Instead, almost everything happens at the Capital Hilton. The events started Tuesday. They build through the week. And Thursday night’s Louisiana Alive party brings live bands, rotating stages and samples from Louisiana restaurants. It feels like a “taste of home” right in the middle of D.C.

Why the Trip Matters

Although there are formal events on Friday and Saturday, Brian said his focus is what happens in the hallways and meeting rooms. He will see Congresswoman Julia Letlow, Senator Bill Cassidy and Treasurer John Fleming. All three are running for Senate. He said these events give leaders space to talk, share ideas and connect with business and nonprofit groups. As a result, many ideas born during this week often turn into real legislation back in Baton Rouge.

Key Conversations Ahead

Brian also expects strong conversations about economic growth. Groups like the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association, Restore the Mississippi River Delta and several health care leaders will be on hand. He said these meetings help shape partnerships and give Louisiana’s delegation a clearer picture of what business leaders need.

Looking Forward

With support from sponsors like the Baton Rouge Metro Airport, Rev, and Presley Wealth Management, Brian said he is ready for two full days of stories. And he plans to bring those stories—and the momentum—back to Louisiana.
