It’s Go Time for Super Bowl Week

Super Bowl week is approaching, and preparations are in full swing in New Orleans. Walt Leger, President and CEO of New Orleans and Company, shared updates on the ongoing efforts. The French Quarter and Canal Street are bustling with activity as final touches are being made. The Sanger Theatre is being prepared for the NFL Honors event, and streets around the Superdome are being blocked off for security.

Thousands of people, including media personnel and corporate groups, are already in town, with more expected to arrive as the week progresses. The Super Bowl is not just a football game but a series of thousands of events, including job and career fairs for former NFL players, social events, and entertainment.

The NFL Experience at the Convention Center, running from Wednesday to Saturday, offers fans a chance to see the Lombardi Trophy, meet players, and participate in football-related activities. Monday night’s major kickoff event at the Superdome is another highlight.

Logistics for street closures are being managed carefully to ensure the city continues to function smoothly. Poydras Street will be a secure zone from Claiborne to Loyola, while the rest of the street remains operational. The French Quarter will also see additional closures, affecting vehicle access to Bourbon Street.

Leger emphasized the importance of checking local news and the New Orleans website for updates on road closures and event details. Despite the challenges, the excitement is palpable, and both visitors and locals are encouraged to participate in the festivities.
