Louisiana Businesses Must Pivot Now: Stuart Gilly Says Opportunity Is Coming Fast

Business leaders across Louisiana are being encouraged to take a fresh look at their companies as billions of dollars in economic development projects continue flowing into the state. According to Stuart Gilly, CEO coach and leader of The Alliance’s small business community, the upcoming CYA360 Business Symposium is designed to help entrepreneurs and executives position themselves for the opportunities ahead.

“CYA360 stands for ‘Cover Your Assets 360,'” Gilly explained during a recent interview. “We try to take a full look at what business owners and leaders need to protect themselves and their businesses.”

The event, scheduled for November 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, will feature presentations and panel discussions covering leadership, business growth, financial management, health, artificial intelligence, and long-term planning.

A highlight of the symposium is the “Cover Your Legacy” panel featuring Curt Ainsworth, Richard Lipsey, and Julio Melara, who will discuss why they chose to build successful businesses in Baton Rouge and Louisiana.

Gilly said the symposium is geared toward virtually any business owner.

“If you’re running a business, you have employees, sales, marketing, operations, and finance,” he said. “The widget might be different, but they’re all still battling the same issues.”

With Louisiana experiencing what Gilly described as unprecedented economic momentum, he believes business owners should be evaluating whether their current strategies are still the right fit.

“The old playbook might say one thing, but when you start dropping this amount of innovation and development into our state, everybody should be looking at how that affects their business individually,” Gilly said.

Leadership development will also be a key topic. “People are leaving to go to places where that company values their personal development,” he noted. “How are you developing that next generation of leader within your organization?”
