Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) President and CEO Will Green joined Brian Haldane on Mornings With Brian Haldane to discuss LABI’s 2026 Legislative Scorecard and the organization’s priorities for Louisiana’s business community.
LABI Scorecard Tracks Legislative Votes
LABI’s annual scorecard tracks how legislators voted on issues the organization identified as important to the business community. This year, LABI recognized 90 legislators, including 52 who received perfect scores, 16 who scored between 90% and 99%, and 22 who scored between 80% and 89%.
Green said the scorecard reflects priorities developed through conversations with businesses across Louisiana. Those priorities include economic growth, workforce development, insurance reform and energy policy.
Workforce Development Remains a Focus
Green said workforce development played a major role during the 2026 legislative session. He highlighted efforts to strengthen education and workforce programs while preparing Louisiana workers for new economic opportunities.
He also pointed to bipartisan support for several workforce measures. Green said Louisiana needs a trained workforce that can meet the demands created by billions of dollars in current and expected investment.
Insurance and Energy Stay on the Agenda
Green said business leaders continue to raise concerns about insurance costs across the state. He also identified energy policy as another major priority for LABI.
Looking ahead, the organization plans to continue meeting with businesses and industry groups to identify challenges and determine which issues should become priorities for the next legislative session.
Green said the goal remains to understand what businesses need to hire, expand and attract new investment to Louisiana. As the state prepares for another legislative cycle, LABI plans to use that feedback to shape its future policy agenda.
