New Orleans continues to build on its reputation as a destination for food, music, conventions and culture. On Mornings With Brian Haldane, Kelly Schulz, Senior Vice President of Communications for New Orleans & Company, and Sig Greenebaum, co-founder of NOLA x NOLA, discussed the city’s growing tourism and entertainment industries.
New Orleans Named a Top Food City
Schulz highlighted New Orleans’ recent recognition as the nation’s No. 1 foodie city by Yelp and Lyft. The recognition reflects restaurant activity and rideshare trips to dining destinations.
Breakfast and brunch ranked as the most-searched dining category, followed by seafood. Schulz said the recognition showcases everything from iconic restaurants to smaller local establishments and gives travelers another reason to choose New Orleans for their next trip.
She also noted that several restaurants have extended special dining offers through September, giving visitors additional opportunities to experience the city’s culinary scene.
NOLA x NOLA Celebrates Local Music
Greenebaum explained how NOLA x NOLA began in 2021 after several major festivals canceled during the pandemic. What started as an effort to keep visitors from canceling their trips has grown into an annual fall celebration featuring about 50 venues and more than 300 shows across 11 nights.
The event showcases a wide range of genres and neighborhoods, giving visitors an opportunity to experience New Orleans beyond its traditional music scene.
NOLA x No Cover also provides free shows, while NOLA x NOLA Talks explores music, business, entrepreneurship and local culture.
Conventions Bring More Visitors
Schulz said New Orleans also has a strong convention calendar ahead. Major organizations will bring thousands of visitors to the city, while New Orleans & Company has already secured approximately 200,000 hotel room nights for 2027.
From food and music to conventions, the city continues to use its unique culture to attract visitors and generate economic activity across Louisiana.
