A Diverse Camping Experience
Tangipahoa Parish continues to expand its tourism offerings, from family-friendly RV parks to major festivals and outdoor attractions.
Carla Tate, president and CEO of Tangipahoa Tourism, recently joined Mornings with Brian Haldane to discuss what visitors can expect across the parish. She highlighted the variety of camping options near the Robert exit, including Sun Outdoors, Fireside at Adventures RV and Hidden Oaks.
The parks offer different experiences, from glamping and spacious pull-through sites to more rustic camping. Tate said the variety allows visitors to choose the experience that best fits their needs.
Fall Festivals Bring Visitors
Tate also highlighted Tangipahoa Parish’s busy fall calendar. Southeastern Louisiana University will kick off football season with a Thursday night game on Aug. 27, while Hammond prepares for Hot August Night.
The Tangipahoa Parish Fair will also return to its newer location near the Florida Parishes Arena. As the state’s oldest fair, the event celebrates communities throughout the parish with school competitions, entertainment, a rodeo and other attractions.
The parish will also welcome visitors for its annual Renaissance festival and other seasonal events.
Tourism Supports Economic Development
Tate emphasized that tourism plays a major role in Tangipahoa Parish’s economic development strategy. The parish works with regional partners through Southeast Louisiana Gumbo, a collaboration that connects communities between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
That regional approach helps attract visitors who may already be traveling through southeast Louisiana. Tate pointed to Global Wildlife as one of the area’s standout attractions, offering visitors opportunities to interact with exotic animals.
She also credited “Team Tangy” for bringing tourism, economic development and community leaders together.
“We all work together,” Tate said, emphasizing the parish’s focus on growth, quality of life and new business development.
With its convenient location, outdoor attractions, festivals and collaborative approach, Tangipahoa Parish continues to position tourism as a key part of its future.
