Zeeland Street Market owner Miss Stephanie Farris is launching a savory new lineup of sports-inspired beef po’boys in Baton Rouge. Farris, a beloved culinary staple in the community, created three experimental menu additions that highlight her house-crafted, slow-cooked beef.
The Haldane, Miss Kim, and Down the Lane Po’Boys
This creative menu features bold flavor profiles named after prominent local sports figures. The “Brian Haldane” stacks tender, pecan-smoked brisket, crunchy coleslaw, and tangy barbecue sauce on a toasted onion roll. For a unique soul-food twist, “Miss Kim” pairs traditional white beans and rice with mustard greens and rich brisket, entirely bypassing pork sausage. Finally, the “Down the Lane” honors coach Lane Kiffin with juicy roast beef pot roast, Swiss cheese, and a fiery, house-made horseradish mayonnaise.
A Powerful Victory Over Cancer
Beyond her incredible cooking, Farris’s return to the kitchen marks an inspiring personal milestone. After conquering a fierce battle with cancer, she credits her survival to an unyielding positive mindset and clean nutrition. Farris actively directed her medical team to focus on healing rather than standard clinical side effects.
Farris continues to prove that wholesome food serves as essential fuel for the body. By emphasizing the restorative benefits of high-quality protein and iron, she is happily back to doing what she loves most: feeding her neighborhood.
