Another major legislative win permanently establishes the Complex Litigation Section Program in the 19th JDC. This program targets dense class-action lawsuits. Under this system, parties choose to enter the specialized section and cover the operational costs themselves. During the pilot phase, every single case settled successfully. This program saves taxpayers significant money and helps clear the heavily overloaded local court docket.
Feeding School Children Efficiently
LaFleur also addressed childhood food insecurity with a highly efficient screening program. The law adds two simple questions to an existing school questionnaire to find hungry students. Because it uses an established framework, the initiative features a zero-dollar fiscal note. The state connects families directly to existing resources without spending extra capital or creating duplicate agencies.
