State Rep. Gabe Firment Launches Campaign for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District

Firment Enters the Congressional Race

Louisiana State Representative Gabe Firment has officially entered the race for the 5th Congressional District, saying newly drawn district boundaries created an opportunity for a candidate from north-central Louisiana. Firment announced his campaign after receiving encouragement from supporters following the state’s congressional redistricting process.

He said the revised map better reflects the region he represents and allows him to seek federal office while remaining a resident of the district.

Campaign Focuses on Conservative Priorities

Firment said his campaign will center on traditional conservative principles, including limited government, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, border security, and support for free markets. He also pledged to work alongside President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson if elected to Congress.

According to Firment, voters throughout the district have emphasized protecting constitutional values and addressing economic concerns that affect families and small businesses.

Experience in the State Legislature

Firment pointed to his seven years in the Louisiana Legislature as evidence of his ability to deliver results. He said his legislative record demonstrates a willingness to tackle difficult issues and defend his positions, even during highly debated policy discussions.

He encouraged voters to evaluate candidates based on their records rather than political rhetoric or personal attacks.

Representing a Large Rural District

The 5th Congressional District spans a large portion of northeast and central Louisiana. Firment acknowledged that campaigning across such a large district requires extensive travel and direct conversations with voters.

Despite the district’s size, he said many communities share common priorities. Agriculture, timber, faith, and economic development remain important issues throughout the region. He also said residents want elected officials who understand the financial challenges facing working families.

Looking Ahead

Firment said he plans to spend the coming months meeting voters across every parish in the district before the November election. His campaign will focus on conservative policy, legislative experience, and local engagement as he seeks to represent Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District in Washington.
