Essence Festival Delivers Another Strong Year
New Orleans is keeping the momentum going after another successful Essence Festival of Culture. Early attendance numbers showed a strong rebound from last year, with especially large crowds on Friday and steady turnout throughout the weekend.
Alice Glenn of New Orleans & Company said visitors praised the performances at the Caesars Superdome and the packed sponsor activations at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The festival, now in its 31st year, continues to attract visitors from across the country and around the world.
Tales of the Cocktail Returns This Month
The next major event on the calendar is Tales of the Cocktail, running July 19-24. The internationally recognized festival brings bartenders, spirits professionals, and cocktail enthusiasts to New Orleans for seminars, tastings, networking, and competitions.
Glenn said the event has grown into the world’s premier cocktail festival. In addition to industry programming at the Ritz-Carlton, visitors can enjoy pop-up bars, guest bartenders, and unique food and drink experiences throughout the city.
X Games Bring Elite Action Sports to New Orleans
The X Games arrive July 24-26, transforming the Caesars Superdome campus into a festival of action sports and live entertainment.
Top athletes will compete in skateboarding, BMX, and motocross events. Concerts featuring hip-hop and EDM artists will follow each evening. Champion Square will host fan activities, while additional competitions will take place inside the Superdome and Smoothie King Center.
World-Class Culinary Competition Heads to the Convention Center
That same weekend, New Orleans will host the Bocuse d’Or Americas and Pastry World Cup Americas competitions.
Teams from North and South America will compete for spots in the international finals in Lyon, France. Spectators can watch chefs create stunning chocolate, sugar, and ice sculptures while culinary teams prepare world-class dishes.
More Festivals Ahead
The summer continues with Satchmo SummerFest on Aug. 2-3, celebrating the legacy of Louis Armstrong with free live music at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Restaurant Month, known as COOLinary New Orleans, also begins Aug. 1, offering discounted prix fixe menus at participating restaurants across the city.
