Former U.S. Attorney Brandon J. Fremin has been inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame, marking a significant milestone in his legal career and ongoing contributions to the criminal justice system. Fremin, who previously served as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana, received the honor alongside several other notable figures, including Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.
Fremin said the recognition came as a surprise after receiving a call from representatives affiliated with the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame. “It was a very pleasant surprise,” Fremin shared, noting that the honor reflects years of work that began early in his career as an investigator at the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office.
His professional journey includes time as a state prosecutor, leadership in the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, and ultimately his appointment as U.S. Attorney during President Donald Trump’s first administration. Fremin credits hard work and experience across multiple levels of the justice system for shaping his career.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held at LSU’s Lod Cook Conference Center, where Fremin and five other inductees were recognized. Each honoree also has a permanent display featuring career memorabilia in the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame museum.
During his tenure as U.S. Attorney, Fremin focused heavily on addressing violent crime in Baton Rouge. He noted significant increases in federal gun crime prosecutions and conviction rates during his time in office, highlighting collaboration among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as a key factor in those efforts.
Now in private practice, Fremin serves as managing partner at the Baton Rouge law firm Talbot, Carmouche & Marcello where he continues his legal work outside of government service.
Fremin emphasized that while the award is meaningful, it represents a continued commitment to the profession. “You get recognized for your work, but you still get up the next day and keep going,” he said.
