Louisiana native James Landry Hébert has appeared in some of Hollywood’s biggest productions. Now, the actor is earning attention for his role in season three of Euphoria.
During a recent interview, Hébert reflected on his Louisiana upbringing and the path that led him to Hollywood.
LSU Helped Launch His Acting Career
Hébert said Baton Rouge played a major role in his journey. While attending LSU, he took his first theater class and began taking acting seriously.
The actor said those early experiences helped shape his future career. Today, he credits LSU and South Louisiana as key parts of his foundation.
Although many online biographies list Lafayette as his hometown, Hébert said his family connections extend across the state. His mother’s family comes from Morgan City. His father’s family is from New Roads. He also spent part of his childhood living near False River.
From Louisiana to Hollywood
Hébert has built an impressive list of credits. He has appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Stranger Things, and Horizon: An American Saga.
He shared a story about working with Brad Pitt. Early in his career, Hébert worked as Pitt’s stand-in on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Years later, the two reunited on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
According to Hébert, Pitt remembered him and even recalled details about his background growing up in South Louisiana.
A New Role on Euphoria
Hébert currently plays Harley in season three of Euphoria.
He described Harley as a rebellious outlaw who wants power, respect, and recognition. Hébert said the role challenged him as an actor and allowed him to explore a complex character.
He also praised creator Sam Levinson for creating a creative and collaborative environment on set.
Bringing Louisiana Stories to the Screen
Looking ahead, Hébert hopes to tell more stories from Louisiana.
He said Cajun communities, Native American culture, and life in the bayous offer rich material for future films. His goal is to bring those stories to a wider audience while staying connected to the place he calls home.
