Miss Louisiana Gabrielle McLeod is preparing to pass on her crown after a busy year representing Louisiana across the state and nation. During a recent interview, the University of Louisiana Monroe student reflected on her journey, her accomplishments, and her plans for the future.
McLeod’s path to the Miss Louisiana title began at ULM. She entered her first pageant through the university’s local competition, hoping to earn scholarship opportunities and represent her school. Despite having no previous pageant experience, she placed in the top five during her first competition. Encouraged by supporters, she returned the following year and won the Miss Louisiana title.
Before entering pageants, McLeod spent most of her time competing in sports. She played soccer, threw discus, and ran track in high school. Today, she studies kinesiology and exercise science at ULM and plans to pursue a master’s degree in athletic training. Her goal is to work on the sidelines helping athletes perform at their best.
Representing Louisiana Across the State
As Miss Louisiana, McLeod traveled extensively, attending events and serving as an ambassador for the state. She also represented Louisiana at the Miss America competition, where she showcased the state’s culture, talent, and history on a national stage.
One of her favorite experiences involved working with the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The event brought together young athletes from across Louisiana and highlighted the importance of physical activity. McLeod even joined students during a race to encourage them along the course.
A Continued Mission Beyond the Crown
As her year of service comes to an end, McLeod says her commitment to Louisiana’s youth will continue. She remains passionate about encouraging children to stay active and participate in athletics. She also hopes to remain involved in education and advocate for strong physical education programs that help students build healthy habits for life.
While her reign is ending, McLeod says her mission to support and inspire young people across Louisiana is only beginning.
