One of Louisiana’s long-running business and policy events is getting a major expansion in 2026. LegisGator, a Southwest Louisiana event that honors lawmakers helping move business and industry priorities forward, will now grow into a larger collaboration built around leadership, policy discussions, and economic growth.
Organizers say the event has evolved beyond a luncheon. It now creates conversations between lawmakers, business leaders, and organizations focused on Louisiana’s future.
This year marks the 21st Legislator event. Leaders involved in planning said they wanted to build on past momentum and create more opportunities to discuss issues shaping Louisiana’s future.
Expanded Schedule Adds Policy and Leadership Conversations
The expanded event runs Aug. 19 through Aug. 21 and adds programming before the traditional Legislator gathering.
The first addition is the LABI Policy Forum on Aug. 19. Leaders said discussions will focus on insurance, workforce development, education pathways, and Louisiana’s energy future. Organizers also plan conversations about legislation passed during the 2026 session and priorities moving forward.
Aug. 20 brings the Future Louisiana Conference: Ideas for Leadership. Organizers said the goal is to bring in national experts and leaders from other states to share ideas on workforce development, education, economic growth, and community revitalization.
The final day continues the traditional Legislator experience while adding more discussion around Southwest Louisiana growth and energy investment. Leaders highlighted billions in regional investment and a long-term goal to grow Southwest Louisiana by 100,000 residents by 2036.
Louisiana Leaders Push Bigger Vision
Organizers say the expanded format creates more opportunities for collaboration across industries and regions. The goal is simple: build stronger conversations about where Louisiana goes next.
Planning leaders believe the event can become one of Louisiana’s leading gatherings for policy, business, and long-term economic strategy.
