Troy Carter Highlights Algiers Pool Project and Gun Safety Funding in Louisiana

New Pool Coming to Algiers

Congressman Troy Carter announced progress on a long-awaited indoor swimming facility in Algiers. Crews have broken ground on the $4 million project, which will serve a community that has long lacked access to public recreation. The year-round facility will include an enclosed pool, restrooms, and space for community use. Carter said the goal is to give families safe access to swimming and help residents learn life-saving water skills.

Focus on Community Access

Carter emphasized the need for investment in underserved areas. He noted many residents grew up without pools and lacked opportunities for safe recreation. The new facility aims to change that, especially for children and seniors.

$1 Million for Gun Safety

Carter also secured $1 million for the United Way’s Safe Children Initiative. The funding will provide thousands of biometric gun safes to reduce accidental shootings involving children. He stressed that proper storage can prevent tragedies and save lives across Louisiana.
