Two recent child deaths have shaken the Baton Rouge community as Crime Stoppers urges residents to help stop violence and assist ongoing investigations.
Officials say an 8-year-old child was struck by gunfire while playing in a yard after being caught in crossfire from a drive-by shooting. In a separate incident, a 10-year-old died in what investigators describe as an accidental shooting involving a firearm inside a vehicle.
Crime Stoppers leaders say the tragedies highlight the need for responsible gun storage and community awareness.
Despite the violence, anonymous tips continue to help solve cases. Tips recently helped identify a suspect connected to a shooting and led to the arrest of a rape suspect accused of attacking a 94-year-old victim.
Authorities are also searching for Ella Rose Dixon, 59, wanted for felony theft and fraud involving more than $10,000 in unauthorized bank transactions.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 344-STOP or through the P3 Tips app. Cash rewards remain available for information that leads to arrests.
