World-Class Rodeo Arrives in New Orleans
The Hondo Rodeo Fest rides into the Caesars Superdome April 10–12 with a million-dollar purse and the top eight competitors in every major rodeo discipline. CEO James Trawick describes it as the sport’s version of the Super Bowl, bringing together the best athletes in team roping, steer wrestling, bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, and barrel racing.
These competitors aren’t weekend riders. They’re world champions, National Finals Rodeo veterans, and the highest-ranked athletes from sanctioning bodies like the PRCA and PBR.
What Fans Will Experience Inside the Dome
Sideline reporter Kennedy Riggs says the thrill comes from how close fans sit to the action. Rodeo remains one of the last sports born directly from a living lifestyle, and every event reflects that heritage. The rides are fast, dangerous, and intense—so intense that half the score in rough stock events comes from the animal.
From bull riding to barrel racing, fans see every discipline in one show. For first-timers, it’s a full introduction to the sport at its highest level.
Concerts Take Over After the Arena Dust Settles
Once the arena action ends, the Superdome stage flips for major concert performances. This year’s lineup includes Jason Aldean, Cody Johnson, Old Dominion, Creed, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bailey Zimmerman. The festival blends championship-level rodeo with nationally known acts, turning every night into a full entertainment experience.
Louisiana Talent Joins the Competition
Several homegrown stars will represent the state, including Shane Hanchey, Cade Saunier, Tyler Waguespack, and Jesse Conner. Their presence gives Louisiana fans even more reason to pack the dome and cheer loudly.
