Susan B. Bourgeois serves as Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development, where she leads the state agency focused on job creation and economic growth. In this role, she works to expand opportunity for communities across Louisiana while strengthening the state’s national profile.
Recently, Bourgeois brought that mission to Washington, D.C., during Washington Mardi Gras. There, she met with business leaders, corporate executives, and policymakers. These meetings helped advance projects already in development. They also opened doors to new opportunities for the state.
One major highlight was the Louisiana Now Pavilion. Modeled after the successful Super Bowl pavilion, it served as a central hub for economic development. More importantly, it allowed LED to tell a new story about Louisiana. The pavilion showcased the state’s business climate, workforce, and long-term growth potential.
In addition, LED used the pavilion to strengthen relationships with major companies. Partners such as Meta, Hyundai, Woodside Energy, and Amazon participated. As a result, Louisiana business leaders were able to connect directly with global decision-makers.
Bourgeois also launched the Louisiana Storyteller Initiative. Through this effort, business owners, media members, and influencers help share Louisiana’s success. Participants receive easy-to-use data, presentations, and talking points. This approach ensures a consistent and credible message about the state’s economy.
Just as important, LED measures results. During the Super Bowl alone, earned media from the pavilion generated an estimated $6.5 million in value. Meanwhile, Louisiana’s current project pipeline includes 196 active prospects. Together, they represent approximately 52,000 potential jobs and nearly $280 billion in capital investment.
Ultimately, Bourgeois emphasizes teamwork and accountability. With support from the governor and state agencies, Louisiana aligns its efforts behind shared goals. Because of this focus, Louisiana continues to attract investment and create opportunity statewide.
Under Susan Bourgeois’ leadership, Louisiana Now represents real momentum, measurable growth, and a stronger economic future.
