Louisiana Lands Back-to-Back National Economic Wins With 2025 Platinum Deal of the Year

Louisiana continues its economic momentum after Business Facilities named the Capital Region project the 2025 Platinum Deal of the Year. The recognition marks the first time any state has won the publication’s top honor in back-to-back years, following last year’s Meta project in north Louisiana.

A National Win for the Capital Region

Lori Melancon, president and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership, said the award validates a decade of planning and collaboration. The project highlights the scale and long-term impact of development at the River Park Megaplex, particularly for communities on the west side of the Mississippi River.

The recognition also reflects strong coordination with state leaders and Louisiana Economic Development, which helped Louisiana secure national attention two years in a row.

Smart Incentives With Lasting Impact

Unlike traditional incentive packages, most benefits tied to the project focus on infrastructure, not direct cash to companies. Investments in roads, rail, and utilities unlock thousands of additional acres for future development. That approach ensures long-term value even if tenants change.

Following the announcement, additional momentum quickly followed, including major activity tied to CF Industries. Improved infrastructure now positions the site—and neighboring parishes—for faster recruitment and expansion.

Building for the Long Term

Melancon emphasized that large-scale projects require patience. Site preparation, transportation upgrades, and workforce relocation are already underway, even if progress is not yet visible above ground. Families and technical teams have already moved into the region to support early phases.

With tens of billions of dollars in potential projects in the pipeline, the Capital Region stands at the beginning of a new growth cycle—one driven by planning, collaboration, and investments designed to benefit Louisiana for decades.
