Louisiana is no longer standing still. Instead, the state is showing real progress. According to Will Green, president and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), that progress is fueling new energy across the business community.
More importantly, the results are visible. Businesses, lawmakers, and citizens can now point to measurable change.
Real Results Are Driving Confidence
First, Louisiana has improved its standing in education. The state has moved out of the bottom tier and into the 30s nationally. At the same time, criminal justice reforms have strengthened accountability, transparency, and re-entry efforts.
In addition, tax reforms passed at the end of 2024 delivered meaningful change. Those reforms pushed Louisiana from the 40s into the low 30s in national tax rankings. As a result, business leaders now have facts to take into boardrooms and community meetings.
However, Green made one thing clear. Progress does not mean the work is done.
Why Louisiana Must Keep Pushing Forward
While Louisiana improves, neighboring states are also moving fast. Texas, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, and Mississippi continue to compete for jobs and investment. Because of that, LABI’s message is simple: keep moving.
That urgency shapes the theme of LABI’s 2026 Annual Meeting — Going for Growth. The meeting takes place Feb. 11 at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge, with a legislative reception the night before.
A One-Two Punch of Insight and Strategy
The morning panel features Jonathan Martin, POLITICO’s bureau chief and senior political columnist. He will explain why Louisiana’s rare alignment between state and federal leaders matters heading into an election year.
Later, keynote speaker Jonathan Brill will focus on the future. He will show how businesses can use artificial intelligence to stay competitive, create jobs, and plan ahead.
More Than a Meeting
Finally, Green emphasized what makes the event special. The real value comes from conversations in the hallway. That is where ideas turn into action.
In short, Louisiana has momentum. LABI plans to keep it going.
