Mark Goodson, project lead for the University Lakes Project at LSU, provides an update on the ongoing restoration efforts. Phase One is in full swing, with dredging underway in City Park Lake and sediment being used to expand the LSU Bird Sanctuary. A new weir is being installed to improve flood control, and the May Street Realignment Project—including a new pedestrian bridge. Phase Two dredging of University Lake is partially underway, pending additional funding. These efforts aim to restore the lakes’ health, enhance wildlife habitats, and improve public access and safety.
