LMOGA Has a Positive Outlook for 2025

Tommy Faucheux from the Louisiana Mid Continent Oil and Gas Association recently spoke at the Baton Rouge Press Club, discussing the current state and future of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana. He expressed optimism about the industry’s future, highlighting the significant activities of 2024, including the Landry inauguration and various legislative sessions. Faucheux noted the potential positive impact of the incoming Trump administration, which is expected to adopt pro-energy policies, aligning with Louisiana’s pro-energy stance under the Landry administration.

Despite challenges over the past four years, including negative actions from the Biden administration towards refineries and a pause on LNG permits, the industry has managed to maintain stability. Faucheux emphasized that the industry has continued to produce low-carbon oil and gas, investing in both the Gulf of Mexico and onshore projects. He pointed out that the industry has not lost much ground and is well-positioned to recover and advance.

Faucheux also addressed the diversification of energy companies, noting that this trend is driven by a genuine commitment to reducing carbon emissions and meeting market demands for lower carbon products. He stressed that this commitment will continue regardless of the administration in power. Federal tax credits have incentivized these efforts, and while some policies may change under the new administration, the overarching goals of reducing carbon emissions and producing more oil and gas will remain.

In conclusion, Faucheux highlighted Louisiana’s unique position in the energy sector, capable of increasing oil and gas production while also investing in decarbonization efforts. He expressed confidence that the industry will continue to thrive and contribute to both the economy and environmental goals.
