In serious news, we are discussing domestic violence awareness month, and he is bringing IRIS Executive Director Patti Freeman, and Kristen Raby.
Patti is explaining IRSIS’s role in helping women in abusive situations. IRIS is a place where they can get resources, and housing. Patti mentions that while they encourage women who are in these situations to go to the police, they don’t push that on them and still help them otherwise.
Kristen tells us about the DA’s victim services, this is more of the supportive side of the process, keeping in touch with victims and making sure they know that someone is in their corner.
Hillar Moore talks about the direction that courts seem to be going in, which are courts that handle specific issues. We talk about the possibility of a domestic violence court, and gun court.
