Jesse Kelley with the Clean Slate Initiative joins us today to talk about Ted James’ Bill, HB 604, about record clearing and expungement. Jesse believes that if you are eligible for expungement, the government should take care of the process for you. Jesse says that criminal records sometimes hold people back once they get out of jail in terms of getting jobs and stable housing, meaning people are being punished even after serving their time. She explains the requirements people would have to meet in order to receive expungement. Then, she breaks down how she came across Ted James’ bill and what she likes about it.
