How common are railroad incidents in Louisiana?
For this week’s crimestoppers segment, Brian spoke with CN Railroad Police Special Agent Joshua Fletcher and Executive Director of Louisiana Operation Lifesaver to talk about incidents at railroad tracks. They explain that last year in Louisiana there were 7 vehicle fatalities on train tracks and 7 trespassing fatalities, which is someone on the tracks when they’re not supposed to be. There were also 90 railroad incidents and 30 trespassing incidents that did not result in a fatality. They explain why this happens so often and discuss laws to prevent future accidents.
