BRPD fires officer filmed repeatedly punching an arrestee


The Baton Rouge Police Department has fired twenty-seven year old Officer Marshall McDermitt, following an Internal Investigation for an incident that occurred on April 7, 2019 in the LSU Tigerland area.  Video footage from bystanders and officer body camera footage captured Officer McDermitt punching an arrestee multiple times in the face.

Officer McDermitt, a two year veteran who worked in uniform patrol, was found to have violated BRPD policies in Use of Force, Truthfulness, Conduct Unbecoming, Carrying Out Orders and Falsification of Documents.
